Good morning, and welcome to Grace For Another Morning.
“It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:22–23 (KJV)Good morning, and welcome to Grace For Another Morning.
“It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
Lamentations chapter three, verses twenty-two and twenty-three, King James Version.
Some mornings arrive quietly. Others arrive carrying yesterday with them.
Before your feet touch the floor, your mind may already be replaying the conversation that did not go well, the bill that still needs to be paid, the person you are worried about, the mistake you wish you could undo, or the prayer that still seems unanswered.
Yesterday has a way of trying to get out of bed with us.
But Scripture tells us that something else is waiting when morning comes: mercy.
Jeremiah wrote, “They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
God does not give us one supply of mercy and expect us to make it last forever. His mercies are new every morning. Yesterday’s grace was sufficient for yesterday. Today’s grace is waiting for today. And if the Lord gives us tomorrow, His mercy will be there before we arrive.
Sometimes we look at the entire road ahead and wonder whether we have enough strength to travel it. We think about next week, next month, or next year. We imagine problems that have not happened and burdens we have not yet been asked to carry.
Then we become exhausted by a future we have not even reached.
But God meets us here: this morning, this day, this moment.
The children of Israel learned this in the wilderness. God gave them manna for the day. They could not store up a lifetime supply. Each morning they had to trust that God would provide again.
And He did.
Morning after morning. Day after day.
God was teaching them more than how to gather bread. He was teaching them how to depend upon Him.
We often want enough grace today to guarantee that everything will be all right months from now. God says, in effect, “Walk with Me today.”
We want the whole map. He gives enough light for the next step.
We want every answer. He gives us His presence.
We want certainty about tomorrow. He reminds us, “Great is thy faithfulness.”
Perhaps yesterday was difficult. Perhaps you became discouraged, made a mistake, worried too much, or simply became tired.
Morning has come.
God’s compassion did not run out overnight. His patience has not been exhausted. His faithfulness has not weakened. His mercy has not reached its limit.
You have awakened to another morning in which God is still God, Christ is still Lord, prayer is still heard, forgiveness is still available, and hope still has a reason to live.
That does not mean everything will suddenly become easy.
Mercy does not always remove the road. Sometimes mercy gives us strength to walk it.
Grace does not always remove the burden. Sometimes grace reminds us whose hands are underneath ours.
Faith does not always tell us what will happen next. Sometimes faith simply says, “God will still be there when next arrives.”
Do not carry next week’s trouble with today’s strength. Do not let yesterday convince you that this morning has nothing new to offer.
The sun came up. You are here. And before you opened your eyes, the faithfulness of God was already waiting.
Grace for Today
Take a quiet moment and thank God for the mercy He has already provided. Name one burden from yesterday that you do not want to carry into this morning, and give it to the Lord.
Then pray, “Lord, give me the grace I need to faithfully walk with You today.”
One day. One step. One morning at a time.
A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, thank You for another morning. Thank You that Your compassion has not failed and that Your mercy is new today.
Sometimes I carry yesterday into places where it does not belong. I carry old worries, mistakes, disappointments, and fears about things that have not even happened.
Help me release them into Your hands.
Give me the grace I need for this day. Give me wisdom for the decisions before me, strength for my responsibilities, patience with the people around me, and faith when I cannot see what comes next.
When I worry about tomorrow, remind me that You will already be there. When yesterday tries to discourage me, remind me that Your mercy is new this morning.
Thank You for Your unfailing compassion, Your presence, and the gift of beginning again under the care of a faithful God.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Yesterday has already had its turn. Tomorrow has not arrived. But this morning is here, and so is the mercy of God.
Whatever this day brings, you do not have to face all of life at once.
Receive today’s grace. Walk today’s road. Trust today’s Savior.
And when another morning comes, His mercy will be waiting there too.
“They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
